Help ASAP, upgraded from GTS 250 to HD 4890, Card damaged ?

I upgraded from a GTS 250 1GB to a Radeon HD 4890 and wasn't expecting a HUGE improvement, but a decent one. We all know that the HD 4890 should beat the GTS 250 but today I popped it in, I deleted all Nvidia drivers BEFORE I did this (duh!). I then installed ATI Catalyst control center specifically for the HD4800 series from ati.com. After I run 3dmark all happy to see my new 3dmark score I was upset to actually see a performance DECREASE ! My 3dmark06 score ropped 600 points !!, And COD5, runs almost exactly the same and sometimes a little lower then my GTS 250 ! What in the world happened ? Is my card damaged ? Must the ATI Drivers suck ? I dont know what to do someone help me out.

check the clocks, make sure they are correct...

and what do you mean deleted nvidia drivers? u'r supposed to uninstall them, now theres ton of crap in the registry etc...

What are the rest of your specs......CPU bottleneck maybe?

Nope, my specs are

AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE @ 3.7GHz
Windows 7 Ultimate
4GB 800Mhz RAM
and a 500W OCZ StealthXtreme PSU

As posted above did you use Driver Sweeper? Especially important when switching from nVidia to ATI. Make sure you follow the directions including using safe mode.
Other than that 4890 should kill a GTS250 ( basically the same as my 9800GTX+ )
And yeah I really hope you uninstalled the nVidia drivers and did not delete them.

This might sound stupid but I leave the old drivers installed and swap out cards depending on what is needed. If I need to game online I use my 8800gtx but if I need low power due to running torrents or other things it is a x1900xt. How ever my main rig does not use any thing ati any more so it uses two 9800gt 1gb in sli. I encounter no problems related to drivers unless there is a rare exception like fallout3 several months ago. The results you got should be of no surprise knowing the two cards differences. The only disadvantage of the ati card is lower texture fill rate while every thing else is better.
