Help! ASUS VG248 monitor won't give me 144 Hz!

I recently purchased the ASUS VG248 monitor for the 144hz of refresh rate.

I hooked the computer up to my monitor with an HDMI cable, and noticed I only got 60Hz refresh rate, and later I found out that the 144hz isn't supported with an HDMI cable.

So, I figure I need to plug the Dual Link DVI cable from my computer to monitor, but my computer only has HDMI and D Sub ports. Is there an adapter to connect to a Dual Link DVI cable (or any way, really) so that I can get 144hz on my monitor?

Thanks.

Normally you would use DisplayPort, as it supports the full 144hz rate. You can use DVI, but it only officially supports 120hz maximum. Several monitors and cards allow you to manually select 144hz over DVI, but they normally do not do it automatically.

Since you do not even have a built in DVI port, it sounds like you should get a video card that has DVI or DisplayPort. Ideally you would use DisplayPort.

Are you using a video card or the built in graphics of your motherboard? Also, what is your computer (make and model if a pre-built system like "Dell Optiplex 110" or the motherboard make and model if it is a custom system)?

My computer does not have a DisplayPort. I am using built in graphics. My computer is the acer ame600-ur368.

I am getting a new computer next week with a display port, so I will eventually be able to get 144hz, but I am trying to find a solution to get 144hz for this computer for now.
