I have the p4c800 running with an ATI 9800 pro 2 cdroms drives one SATA 120gb HD and one 512mb infineon chip. I have a p4 2.6 running @ 800 FSB. I Just upgraded to two chips of kingston kvr400x72c3a/512, in order to take advantage of the MB's dual channel ddr feature. I now am having problems with graphic texture glitches in 3d games such as battlefield 1942, and RavieShield. If I run just one chip alone in single channel mode i get no gliches or problems with my computer. I have exchanged each chip and ran it alone finding the same results. I also baught a second pair of kingston hyperX 4000 ram chips and tried them also with the same problems. I checked Kingstons website for memory timming settings. In the bios I have tried the suggested timings of 3-4-4-8-1 with a 7.8 refresh. Gliches seemed to decrease slightly but only slightly. I tried other combinations of ram timings with each pair of ram chips with no success. I have also tested the posibilty of there being insuficient power by unpluging my extra cdrom drive and 2 extra fans. There was no change. Im not sure one extra ram chip is enough to make a 450watt power suply fail.

HELP PLEASE>

It sounds like a PSU problem, but if you want to go the RAM way run it at the AUTO settings in the bios, But my hunch would be the PSU.

Let me ask, what voltage are you running you DDR at. 2.5V? 2.6V, 2.7V, etc.

try setting your memory times to by spd, or optimal. Lower than that isn't always a fix, faster can cause issues. My Geil PC3200 won't run Cas3 without locking up. Even when I OC, I have to use Cas 2. Weird, I know. Anyway, Then go and adjust the DDR voltage to 2.7V then see what happens. Memory in Dual channel can be very finicky in some cases. Some people have no issues, others ahve loads of issues. Sometimes a little boost to 2.7 or even 2.8 is needed to make a system stable. It all depends on the ram. If this works, then try to tweak performance in the bios until you find your stable limit.

My power suply is a JGE 450... that should be enought I only have 2 cdroms and 1 harddrive... Ive tried unpluging all xtra fans and lights... and there seems to be no difference. Could my 450 really be underpowering this vid card ?? And.. in my bios there is no voltage setting for agp... Asus p4c800 deluxe bios. HELP!

It sounds like the problem only started when you upgraded the ram..is that right ? if so, have a look at the post above re: RAM settings B4 forking out any money on a PSU.

MOST PC3200 is of such low quality it requires additional voltage to run in dual channel mode! I'm talking NAME BRANDs here! Try increasing DDR Reference Voltage to 2.7v!

got some different ram and the Problem is almost gone... I guess I need to fork out some cash for some really good ram.. I thought the kingston hyperx 4000 would be good enough but it didnt work well at all. What ram should I get for the p4c800 and a 2.6 running 800mhz fsb. registered? unbuffered? ecc ? Any suggestions would be nice... Im lost and fallen down this rabbit hole called ram research.
