So I just recently built my first computer. I have an Asus strix 2080, i7-9700k, and 16GB 3200Mhz Corsair ram.
The monitor I just bought is a 24” Dell that is 1440p, 1ms response time, and 144hz. It was on a sweet deal, but I worried about the fact that it is TN panel. (Model is S2417DG)
I was playing games like fortnite, anthem, and battlefield V, and I noticed on the latter two games the blacks seemed to be horrid. Like big chunky blocks on the screen. I would be fine, but now I’m debating if instead, I should get a 1080p monitor that is IPS and 144hz instead?...
I’m most often going to play games like overwatch and fortnite, but the times I do play those graphical games, I want the best quality, ya know? Any help would be appreciated.

Reviews show that it has good black levels so it may not be the monitor. If using hdmi, nvidia defaults to clamped color which needs to be changed in nvidia control panel. Before considering a new monitor, you need to try calibrating the monitor. You can use this site. http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ You could take a screenshot, which would show me the image as it's supposed to be (not what you see which you'd have to take a picture with a camera) so I can see if the image/game is the issue. If you still want a new monitor, I'd be against ips for gaming because it's worse for dark colors because ips glow. If you want the best looking monitor, you want va.
