building gaming PC Not using HDD. Only SSD. Loaded windows 10 on SSD but I can only get to windows 10 by overriding 'windows boot manager (Samsung Evo 500 ssd)' I have been trying for days to get the PC to boot from 500 SSD. Never works. I have tried all kinds of different options (I have no idea what I am doing, It may be the simplest thing). Every time I reset the PC or turn on, the screen is black. Nothing Happens. I have to hit the reset button like 10 times for the bios screen to pop up again so I can try something else. I followed these instructions last night:
- The M.2 drive has to be the only drive installed.
- Go into the bios, under the boot tab there is an option for CSM, make sure it is disabled.
- Click on secure boot option below and make sure it is set to other OS, not windows UEFI.
- Click on key management and clear secure boot keys.
- Insert a USB memory stick with a UEFI bootable iso of Windows 10 on it, USB3 is quicker but USB2 works also. A Windows DVD won’t work unless you’ve created your own UEFI Bootable DVD.
- Press F10 to save, exit and reboot.
- Windows 10 will now start installing to your NVME drive as it has its own NVME driver built in.
- When the PC reboots hit F2 to go back into the BIOS, you will see under boot priority that windows boot manager now lists your NVME drive.
- Click on secure boot again but now set it to WIndows UEFI mode. (see #3 above)
- Click on key management and install default secure boot keys
- Press F10 to save and exit and windows will finish the install. Once you have Windows up and running, shutdown the PC and reconnect your other SATA drives. Do not put anything on SATA port 1 as this is now may be reserved for the NVME drive I got to step 6. the reset. Now PC is black screen and I cannot turn on/get to bios or anything. The computer boots up fine with everything running lights and all. Just no display Motherboard is Asus Rog Maximus IX hero Z270 Please help. I am about to throw this rig out the window. I just want it to operate like a normal computer. Why will it not boot to the SSD (note: before i followed those instructions, the ONLY bootable option was: Windows boot manager(samsung 500 SSD)
