WD Green 2TB, bought to use as a secondary media storage internal drive.
First, I put it in an external IDE/USB dock in order to transfer about 200GB of stuff from a laptop.
Then, I put inside my desktop, in place of the existing 1TB secondary HDD (am waiting for a new SATA cable to arrive on Tuesday).
Was fine, until I started to transfer more files from an external USB HDD. After about 10 minutes it suddenly stopped working, and Windows couldn't find it anymore. Upon rebooting, Windows found it but couldn't do anything with it, neither open it nor reformat it.
Left alone overnight, turned computer back on in the morning, and computer found/read the drive, I got it to start copying more files, and then the same crash-and-disappearance thing happened again. Have tried putting it back into the external USB dock again, but this time neither the desktop or either of my two laptops (one of which is Linux) could mount the drive.
Should I send this back to Newegg, or are there any other steps I could attempt? I love Newegg but hate that they make you pay for return shipping even on defective items like this.
PS. My desktop, in case any of this matters: Win7 64bit, i5 Haswell, 16GB, Asus Z87 mobo, Crucial 120GB SSD boot drive.
