I'm looking to build a gaming PC that can run games like Fallout 4 and Battlefield 4 in 1080p 60fps on at least medium settings. Problem is I've been a console player until now, so I don't know that much about computer parts. I've started considering a few parts, but having a hard time making choices. I'd appreciate some help! Here are a few obstacles I've encountered:

I'm not sure if I should get the Intel i5-6600K over the i5-6600. Can anyone tell me if the 6600K is worth the extra money?

Will the GTX 770 be enough for what I want, or will I have to get the GTX 970? Or maybe I should get the GTX 960? I think I'd prefer the GTX 770 over the 960, but I'm not certain.

Is there a motherboard that will better suit me than the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming? I've seen it has pretty good reviews, but I'd like to compare it to a cheaper motherboard that might be able to do what I want, and I don't know where to find that (if it exists).

Other than that, I haven't looked at all the parts yet. I'll be using the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SSD card, and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO CPU cooler. But if anyone has a recommendation for better options to these, do tell.

Final question- I currently have the (quite old) R4 Bulldozer computer case. I don't know if it can house all these newer parts, since it is pretty old. Will I need to get a new case? If so, which? I don't care so much about how sexy the case is, mostly just the cheapest one I can get that will do what I need. That means I'll be able to fit all these parts into it, and that it has room for a disc drive (I know they're not that necessary anymore, but I will be using it a bit).

Thanks In advance for any help!

UPDATE: I started researching about RAM. I'm not sure if I should get DDR4 or DDR3 RAM. From what I understand, the i5-6600K and the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, which I'm probably going to get (not quite decided yet), support DDR4 RAM, so should I go with that? If so, should I get the Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 2400 (8GB), or is it better in the 4GBx2 version? Or should I get something else entirely? 8GB is enough, right?

AFAIK, Fallout 4 is a very CPU intensive in which even the 6600K is bottlenecking a 970. So, I think you would be better off getting a 6600K since some overclocking would surely help. For medium settings, a GTX 960 should be good enough for most AAA games. If you don't mind, you can get cheap 960's at evga B- stock for like $149 ( http://www.evga.com/Products/Product.aspx?pn=02G-P4-2962-RX).

I wouldn't go for the 770. Although they did a 4gb version all the reviews I saw were that it could only utilise a little more than 2gb, it was more a marketing gimmick. The 960 although also has a low memory bandwidth it is more efficient and the 4gb version can utilise the vram. Now the 960 isn't going to be running games at a setting that will use 4gb but 2-3gb in the latest games would be expected.

If budget allows the 970 is ideal for very high settings at 1080p
