help burn component on mobo

i located chip , but cant identify what it is or if it can be repaired .mobo asus max v extreme . issue burnt chip above pci slot read no 3 red can anyone be of help

I can perhaps help locate a replacement chip. Just give us a picture of the chip location and a picture of the serial number (or any number) on the chip itself. Odds are though there wont be any available and you will have to send the motherboard to Asus for repair.

As for desoldering and soldering the new chip on, that I have not personally done yet so I wont be able to give you advice on that matter.

Can you take a picture and post it or something? If you have something on your motherboard thats literally burnt with burn marks I would think its safe to say the motherboard is dead.

I've never seen anyone successfully de-solder and re-solder anything on a mobo. IMO, it's a waste of time and money.

yes i agree , but if you don't have warranty , or no options then if you do solider yourself what have you lost , with out it it is junk , worse case make it more junky .

i contacted asus , which they told me i do have warranty and covered ,, BUT BUT i purchased used , from e bay which i did not tell them , they were doing a RMA for me ans suddenly the rep told me the system is down and check back with in 24 hours , sounds suspicious to me , but am i covered with e bay protection has anyone been threw this experience

Yeah you're not going to be able to solder on a new chip without the use of some very special tools. The pins are too small and close together to do it with an iron.
