Ok, I have a motherboard issue, It would post then shut down.

I have a i5 3470 in a z68 motherboard, and hard drives Completely new to the system, so no recognized boot device. This may be a cpu compatibility issue with a older bios that the previous owner didn't update to.

But I can't get into the bios, qflash or anything. I can't update the bios anyway. I tried a clear cmos jumper, safe boot, and switching memory. The only way I see that I could fix this problem; is by getting a new cpu that's compatible with an older bios and update from there.

The motherboard: GA-Z68XP-UD3
If you guys could help me in anyway here that would be great.

Solution
You could pick up a cheap 2nd gen Pentium or something. If you have a computer shop nearby have them give it a go. They might charge you a diagnostic fee, but either way you are spending money to verify the motherboard works.
