I was running my OS off of an SSD only, I fried my standard HD. I ended up getting a horrible virus on my SSD, and I decided to whip the entire drive (OS and all). Now that I have a new HD, I want to re-download an OS. I made a copy of my OS from my laptop on a flash drive, but when I start up I am prompted with "unable to recover your pc. the system drive is too small".

I have read the problem is from creating an "image", rather than a clean copy of the OS.

So my question is, since my SSD was wiped completely, could this prompt be from damage? Can I use the OS from another computer, to use on my desktop? Lastly, I do not have a CD-rom, what way can I download an OS without one?

You can't use a Windows setup from another computer. You need to get a Windows setup disk and install Windows clean on the system.

How was Windows installed on the computer in the first place? You do it in the same way now. If it was pre-installed by a vendor, contact them for a set of restore disks.
