Hi,

I'm about to build my first system/HTPC.

I've chosen the ASUS P5K-E and I was wondering about compatibility with OCZ Memory sticks.
I bought the 64bit Vista so I'm looking at 4gb of ram.

which of the following will work with aSUS P5K-E? and which one do you think is the better deal (In canadian dollars)?

OCZ Gold XTC 2x1gb DDR2-800 CL5-5-5-12 - $53 x 2 = $106
OCZ Platinum XTC REV.2 2x1gb DDR2-800 CL4-4-1-15 - $52 x 2 = $104
OCZ Platinum XTC 2x2GB = $115

These DDR2 RAMs are not on the QVL compatibility list, so which one will work with the P5K-E? I don't have much experience in building systems, so please help!

Thanks

I've heard that the Platinum XTC works well on the P5k-E but obviously I can't guarantee. Personally I would go with the 2x2gb kit over the 1x 4gb choice as it puts less stress on the memory controller and its only $11 more.

They should all work, the difference is performance especially if overclocking. Crucial Ballistix is good RAM and if you go to crucial.com and enter the make/model of your mobo, it will tell you what's compatible. Also get a pack of 2 x 1GB and not just two sticks of the same RAM. Depending on the RAM you buy you may have to reset the voltage in he BIOS, which is no big deal. To avoid this, buy RAM with the same voltage as is the default on the mobo.
