Hello
I read the rules to this Forums and I don't think I violate any of them (and if I do I apologize).
I am in dire need of an upgrade and could really use help with choosing the hardware. I am a design student in Germany and work mostly with Adobe software (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Flash, also Premiere and soon AfterEffects) as well as Maya. Later on I will learn 3DSMax and Mudbox.
Most of the 3D stuff I do right now is very amateur but as we learn new stuff I want to do more complex projects.
Right now I have an old Intel Core 2 CPU 2.4 GHz and 2GB of very old RAM.
My budget is somewhere between 700-1000€, I need it with Windows already installed and I don't need a monitor.
Here is what I was looking at:
http://www.notebooksbilliger.de/pc+systeme/hewlett+packard+pc+systeme/hp+workstations/hp+workstation+z220+cmt+wm485et+intel+xeon+e3+1225v2
http://www.notebooksbilliger.de/pc+systeme/lenovo+pc+systeme/thinkstation/lenovo+thinkstation+e31+sx4akge+intel+xeon+e3+1220v2
also similar builds from this website in the same price range. I would prefer to buy my computer there because a) their prices are fairly low and b) they offer monthly payments (like I said: I'm a student).
I know these don't have dedicated graphics cards, I would simply put in the one I have now (AMD Radeon HD 6800) and later when I save up some money switch to a quadro or a firePro.
Am I looking at the right hardware? What should I watch out for?
Thank you in advance!
Michal
