I'm making a budget pc. I can't decide between the fx 6300 and the fx 8320. How significant is the preformance increase? Should I save the $30 and get a better cooler to OC the 6300?

You wouldn't see much of an improvement over the 6300 with the 8320. If anything it would just use more power, get the better cooler for the 6300.

Go with the FX-8320 and get a better cooler when you can the performance is definitely noticeably better.

You should get the 8320, if you are going on the AM3+ socket there is no reason not to go for the best and get the 8 core processor. The 8320 hangs with the i5 all day, the 6300 cannot.
