At last I've decided to buy a new system, this is the setup I have planned:

E145-7830 :: EVGA GeForce 7900 GTX / 512MB GDDR3 / SLI / PCI Express / Dual DVI / HDTV / Video Card $479.99

TSD-160M4 :: Maxtor / DiamondMax 10 / 160GB / 7200 / 8MB / SATA-300 / RoHS / OEM / Hard Drive $89.99

CP1-AM2-4800 :: AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ 2.40GHz / 2MB Cache / 2000MHz FSB / Socket AM2 / Dual-Core (Windsor) / Processor with Fan $689.99

M452-2822 :: MSI K9N SLI Platinum NVIDIA Socket AM2 ATX Motherboard / Audio / PCI Express / Dual Gigabit LAN / S/PDIF / USB 2.0 & Firewire / Serial ATA / RAID $154.99

O261-5136 :: OCZ EL Dual Channel 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Gold Memory (2 x 1024MB) $199.99

T13-1076 :: Coolmax / CW-650T / 650-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / SATA-Ready / SLI / Power Supply $149.99

It's $1760 total at tigerdirect.com

But I need your help. Is everything compatible? Do my choices make sense (price, futureproof, etc)? Should I go with socket 939 which is a bit cheaper?

Thanks a lot for the help.

AMD is not compatible with DDR2 with share FX-62 and the socket AM2.

I don't quite get what you're saying. But according to the specs on the site the AM2 motherboard does support DDR2

It is sure! I use a translator then it is not perfect.

Setup looks good, a bit rich for my blood, but strong.

The only thing I would change if it was my setup is the MSI board...I've had, and known people who have had way too much trouble with their 939 boards to trust their AM2 offerings.

System looks fine, AM2 is good for future, but if you want speed you need to go DDR2-800. Also Tigerdirect.com is HELL avoid this like the plague. Look at Newegg, or if you are outside the US find a local merchant.

Why is tigetdirect Hell?? Would you mind giving me examples?
Bad service? bad parts? too long to ship?

Thanks

sounds beauitul and way to rich for blood to like that guy had said BUT! if i had a chance i would get it but you should try to get a 200gb hdd because you can never not have enough memory and trust me memory goes away fast so try that and with PSU it wont be a problem
