Help choosing i7 920 CPU/Heatsink

Jun 9, 2009
I will be building a i7 920 build and need some help on choosing a CPU Heatsink and Fan. Currently, I have the Cooler Master HAF 932 case, Corsair 850TX PSU, and looking into adding a Gigabyte motherboard (UD4P or UD5). 6GB of G.Skill or OCZ RAM, 1 GTX275 (second later on), and 3x WD 640GB Black drives (32MB cache). I would also like to note that noise is not a problem as long as the CPU is an ice cube (minus water-cooling) and I will be using the Tuniq TX2 thermal compound.

Right now I have the Xigmatek Dark Knight cooler in my cart:

XIGMATEK Dark Knight-S1283V 120mm Long Life Bearing CPU Cooler - $39.99

Is this one of the best cooling options available right now? Or would something else be better?

How about these items? :

Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 120mm SSO CPU Cooler - $74.99

^^In one of the reviews I think someone said it had less "copper pipes" and therefore would not be able to transfer as much heat. True?

Scythe SCKBT-1000 120mm Sleeve Kabuto 6 Heat Pipes CPU Cooler - $44.99

^^Read some good things about this company making cool and silent coolers.

The CPU Heatsink and Fan does not have to be purchased from NewEgg either if they do not carry the more effective coolers.

Thanks for the help!!
