Help Choosing Memory

Hiya,

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM on my PC, but I don't know much about computers, so I'd just like to ask for some advice. I have tried to read around on the subject but I don't want to buy anything and then someone tell me I've misunderstood and bought the wrong thing. 😛

Some info:
I use my PC mostly for gaming (largely World of Warcraft raiding). Also worth noting that I've never overclocked, etc. and have no idea how to. Although if there are easy-to-follow guides online this shouldn't be a problem.

Current specs:

I'm thinking of taking the current memory out and putting in a new set of 2x4gb.

My questions:
Is it worth going for a memory with a higher speed? Or is the difference between 1600 Mhz and 2133+ Mhz negligible? If I go for the higher speeds, I found two around the £75 price mark:

What would you recommend? 1600 Mhz RAM or a higher option? If higher, does either of the above links look like a good deal?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Solution
AFAIK, your mobo supports RAM upto 1600 MHz. Anything above it is overkill. Go for any pair with 1600 MHz. It is going to be cheaper.
As a side note, I can say that memory speed does not affect performance much. In everyday usage and even gaming, you will not notice the difference between 1600 MHz and anything above it.

Usually a higher speed is met with a higher latency so to an extent they both cancel each other out. I've seen performance benchmarks comparing several different spec ram and the finding were stunning. There was very little difference between any of them, the best combination seems to be 1600MHz and CL9

You have limitations. 1333MHz or 1600MHz for that board. Cpu cooler can affect some ram with very high heatsinks, depends on the cooler.

Best bet is 1600 cl7/8/9, depends on budget, looks, cpu cooler. If you have no issues, any decent brand will work as long as it is 1.5v
