Hello everyone!

I'm builing up a workstation for CAD, rendering and graphic design. I'll run programs such as 3ds Max, SolidWorks, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. I won't use it for gaming.
I already have an Intel Core i7 4770 processor, a GIGABYTE Z87X-UD3H motherboard and a AMD FirePro v4900 GPU.
I honestly have no idea about PSUs, so I'd like you to help me choosing a good one, preferably silent.

Thanks in advance.

Solution

Since you're building a production oriented system rather than a gaming system, it's best that you invest the money now to buy a high quality PSU rather than experience downtime later on. It all comes down to dollar value of time.

Thus, your choices are limited to Seasonic... and Seasonic.

I recommend this one...

Your workstation will fall well within a 400 watt envelope and the platinum rating will keep it nice and quiet.

???? 1000 watts, for what, going to run two PCs from it? 😉

If you look at few lines of the PSU details, you can see that you can go for 600, 700 & 850 Watt too, with the same PSU. :)

Just select bellow the Size option.

Where you saw that "runs at **** continuous"?

As if you are using those. :fou:

Can you suggest few of your choice from Amazon? Eager to know.

Antec and Corsair don't make PSUs, they outsource that to other companies. In fact, many of the Corsair PSUs that we all know and love are made by Seasonic.
