help choosing the processor and gpu combo

will it be better to go for a skylake i3 and gtx 960 or 4th gen i5 and gtx 750ti

I'd go with the i3-6300 + a 960 if it's for gaming
for tasks where a real quadcore comes hand get an i5
although an i5-4XXX won't really be much cheaper than a skylake one

its sole purpose would be gaming and programming. i was talking about i5 4460.
