Hi guys. I need a professional advice. I want to ask if someone could help me setting up 4 ram modules.
Today i bought two new additional ddr3 4GB 1600 ram modules. I already have two ddr3 2GB 1333 sticks installed.
The new ones are GEIL dragon 4GB 1600 single chanel, which are able to work with 1600mhz frequency and latency of 11-11-11-28 and 1333mhz wifh 9-9-9-28 latency.

The old ones are 2 x kingmax 2GB 1333mhz.
My mobo is G55 UD3L and I have i5-650 Intel processor.
With the old ones (the kingmax) my PC is working totally fine but when I add the new ones the bios read's them all together as 12GB but just as the Windows logo appear on the screen the PC freezes and then restarts.
On the specifications for the GEIL ram modules, my mobo is under the supported motherboard list.
I've tried every single combination on the slots and no luck. Even with only one GEIL and both modules the PC restarts.

The both GEIL and KINGMAX, work on 1.5V by default.
I'm a low end with computer hardware knowledge, so please be more clearer. :)

"No. The machine only starts with the kingmax ram modules.
Every combination with the GEIL ones, causes bsod and restart."

Then either GEIL modules, or those particular modules, are not compatible with your machine.

Note that the memory controller is on the CPU chip, so the memory may be compatible with the board but not with the processor. Per this: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/core-i5-processor-memory-datasheet.pdf , it should work with 1600 Mhz ram at 1.5v.

But clearly it doesn't. My first inclination would be to return the new memory and get some more 1333 memory instead. Running 1600 memory mixed with 1333 memory is only going to run at 1333 anyway. But I could be way...

I've tried to switch every possible slot combination with only one orvthe two together GEIL modules but it's same. I was clearing the BIOS before every new combination.
Tell me. The KINGMAX modules have latency of 9-9-9-24 when I check them in the bios, and the GEIL have the same too but from the specs on their website they say that their latency should be 9-9-9-28. I've tried changing this in the bios from the advanced timings channel settings but the results are the same. The changes were saved and applied but the results are the same.

Solution

It was my mobo after all. It is too old. 🙁 I've take it to the pc workshop and after few tries, the guys quit and told me that the motherboard is too old for this new ram modules. New one is the key. :) Thank you for your time.
