Hello and thanks for stopping by.

I live in an addition of a house. My desktop is connected over wifi to my router that is in the main part of the house. Wifi just doesn't cut it even if I have full wifi signal. Wifi signal basically goes through 2 brick walls, outside and probably some metal to reach me.

I have noticed there is a unused Cat 3 cable in here. (suppose to be for TV but we have wireless receiver) The cable of course runs down to our electrical box where the TV hookup use to be when we had Satellite but its all unused now. Is there anyway I could somehow utilize this to get a wired connection from router to PC?

My apologies if this is a pretty dumb question.
Thanks for your time.

Solution
Most routers have a built-in 4-port switch. You should be able to connect an Ethernet cable from the router to your PC, but I would highly recommend at least Cat5e.
