I am looking to make upgrades to maximize frames in 1080p on most games (~144fps) and AAA games (~100+fps?). At some point I might make the leap and upgrade my monitor to a 2k display, so some future-proofing wouldn't go amiss. I've read that an RTX 2060 Super and Ryzen 5 3600 may do the trick, what are your thoughts? Should custom cooling (liquid, etc.) be considered with these upgrades?

MOBO: Tomahawk B350
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core 3200MHz
RAM: 16 GB DDR4 2400Hz
GPU: GTX 1060 6 GB
PSU: EVGA 600W
SSD: 860 EVO 1TB SAMSUNG
MONITOR: Acer XFA240 bmjdpr (1080p - 144hz)

Your system is still good for 1080p. If you desire more of a jump then a 2060 would be a waste of money in my opinion since its still considered 1080p tertitory which you are already capable of. I would be more inclined to get a 2070Super instead which would give the high framerate 1080p and good1440p performance.

Your cpu wouldnt botttleneck but if you play certain games that are cpu intensive a jump to a 3700 would be best and again not a 3600 for the same reason as before. Minimal upgrade for the investment.

I would hold out for the next gen of video cards this fall which should promise big things. AMD into 2080 territory and overall more power for your money across the board. And with nvidia comming out with 3000 series a...
