Help converting a partial GPT to MBR

So I found a tool that could convert from MBR to GPT, so I decided to test it out on my main active windows partition. Now I know this was really, REALLY stupid. Looking back I have no idea what I was thinking. Anyways, I would like to salvage my windows partition. Now i think this was only a partial conversion. The flag on the table says it's GPT, but none of the files or partitions got changed(I can still see all my files and folders), probably because my computer blue screened because of the aforementioned stupidity. I have tried using diskpart to convert it back to MBR, but get the error "The specified disk is not convertible", but I can't fully convert it to GPT because it all ready is marked as GPT (even though I'm pretty sure it is MBR). Is there anyway to fix this? Or if that option returns null, is there an easy way to remove my data, wipe, clean, and then use something like gparted to convert it to MBR, and then put the information back on?

I have tried:
converting the drive with diskpart
converting the drive with gparted(will erase all data, I would like keep it)
repairing with windows with the install disk(error "this version of windows not supported", it is. windows 7 64 bit)
using bootrec.exe (it says it completes successfully, but no results)

Short of moving the data to an external disk, wiping the drive, and moving it back, i have done all I can think of.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

"Short of moving the data to an external disk, wiping the drive, and moving it back, i have done all I can think of."

That's what you'll have to do. Disk must be completely partition-less before you can convert it from MBR to GPT or vice-versa.
*Sigh*
that's what I thought. I'm confused as to how I could even get it in this limbo state of being a MBR, but being listed as GPT.
Then onto a secondary question. If I copy my entire windows partition, wipe the drive, reinstall windows, and put it back, overwriting the "new" installation, would windows notice? Is there anything special in the 100mb reserve partition I need?
