Im building a new pc and think the video card is doa. I have a gigabyte mobo ex58-ud36, cpu i7 920, 6gb (3x2) patriot viper ddr3 pc3 10666, asus eah4870 dk top 512mb video card, 650 watt xigmatek no rules ps. The video card fan does to run and there is no video on my lcd. Does this video card work with this mobo? Seems like the video card may be to long, the end of the card is right on top of the sata connecters. So im no sure if its pushed all the way into the pci express slot. It locks into the slot but im not sure if the sata is preventing it from being pushed in more. There are two lights on the video card that light up near where the pci-e power is connected and the heatsink gets warm. What do you guys think is the video card doa?

This is the first computer im building in ten years so unfortunately I dont have any spare parts. Guess Im gonna head to the store and purchase an evga 260 core 216 for $215. I really like the asus 4870 it would have been $144.00 after rebate. I could send it back to newegg and wait for a replacement but I dont really want to wait.

the sapphire 4870 1gb has a less pricing and at a higher resolution over runs the gtx 260 by a little bit, even in some lower resolutions, cost just as cheap or cheaper, well either way, there both good cards.

Just tried an evga 260 and had the same problem. No video on my lcd and the fan on the video card is not running. I think it may be a bad mobo. Gonna exchange the mobo and see if that works.

I am a complete moron. The last computer I built a decade ago did not require a 8 pin connector to the mobo. Thats what I was missing I just connected it and it works. I should have read the mobo manual closer but I appreciate your help fullmetal.

But now that I have a $144 hd4870 512 mb and a $230 evga 260 core 216. Which one should I keep? Is the $90.00 difference worth it? Im leaning towards the hd4870 since Im not big gamer.

Oh wow, hah. It seemed wierd to see nothing post and no fans worked so it sounded like a miss connection or psu beings doa.

well, have fun with the build
