I am torn between this 2 Laptops:
Lenovo Slim 7 ProX 14.5" 3K Laptop AMD Ryzen 9 6900HS Creator Edition NVIDIA, 32 Gb RAM and 1 Tb SSD ($900 Certified Refurbished)
or

ASUS - Zenbook 14.5" 2.8K OLED Laptop - Intel Evo Platform - 13th Gen Core i7 Processor with 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Inkwell Gray ($1000 New)

My main use is studies, doing some programming and some gaming of possible but not necessary

What specific CPU in that Intel i7?

100 dollars more to get new rather than refurbished.

I'd lean toward new unless there is some particular advantage the refurb has.

I wouldn't think 32 gb RAM is a big help for "studies" or most gaming.

You are the only one who would know if 1 TB storage rather than 500 Gb is an advantage.

Intel® Core™ i7-13700H Processor 2.4 GHz (24MB Cache, up to 5.0 GHz, 14 cores, 20 Threads)

Yeah the 32 Gb of RAM are not particularly appealing to me, I think 16 Gb is more than enough.
The 500 Gb of storage might be too small, but I think I can change that after if needed.
I am not sure how the processors compare to each other and in general which notebook has a better materials, design, etc...

Ryzen single thread benchmark; 3334; all threads 24034;

Intel; single thread 3718; all threads 30090;

both are 35 watt TDP; Intel has more cores, which may not matter at all.

Intel has 10 to 25 percent advantages on the benchmarks; might be noticeable.

I say Intel UNLESS you can point out specific advantage on the AMD or UNLESS 100 is a big deal. Answer to both could be yes; I don't know.

Design; longevity, ergonomics, keyboard feel; screen quality can all be major factors; up to you to test them side by side or scrounge for reviews.
