Help deciding on a printer

Hi,

I need to buy a home colour printer, scanner is important but it is basically a home printer. I am looking for a relatively cheap maintenance and low cost printing.

My HP 6830 is broken and ink cartridges were annoying as the printer refused to work with no-brand cartridges (I tried 6 different alternatives and only original HP)...

So basically, colour + scanner + lowcost cartridges or laser, branded or not.

Any suggestion.

I had an epson for years. They seemed to work with generic ink cartridges much better than HP. Although I replaced it with a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus a few years ago, and have been using generic cartridges purchased from Ebay without any issue.

Get a laser printer : will alleviate a lot of issues and you get way better millage with toners than rip-off ink cartridge.

If you still want to stick to ink, I recommended brother printers. Cheap yet efficient. Won't waste as much inks as other brand when cleaning. Usually easy to get cheaper non branded ink.

How about something from someone like these guys with refillable cartridges, virtually free compared to replaceable cartridges.
