HELP! Do a 1666 MHz Ram work on a Laptop which May Only Support 1333Mhz Ram?

Hi, I'm planning to Upgrade my Ram from 4GB (2 X 2GB 1333Mhz) to Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 X 4GB 1666MHz) Ram kit, but I'm unsure if my laptop supports 1666MHz. Please tell me will it work anyways? And will I get smooth performance?

Now you might be thinking why I want to get a 1666MHz Ram Kit when I'm unsure if it will work or not? Reason is, in near future I'm going to buy a new laptop, so when I'll buy it, I can put this 8 GB (2 X 4GB 1666MHz) Ram kit into the new laptop to make it 16GB Ram.

There will be more benefit from going to 8GB if you have 64 bit OS than increasing the ram speed. Unlikely that you will find a laptop that will support more than 2 modules which is the std.

Yes, it will work, but only at the max speed your laptop supports (up to 1666Mhz). If you could tell me the laptop or just the mobo I could check and see if it supports that speed. Hope this helps! :3

I am using 1666 for a 1333 (OC) motherboard RAM, so yes it is possible.
