HELP!!!!! Driver Issues

Hey All,

I'm experiencing a weird issue with my ASUS G53SX. The screen is randomly flickering then returns to normal, afterwards a message from windows pops up stating that:
"Display driver NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 310.70 stopped responding and has successfully recovered." I have tried a clean install of my OS (Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit btw), but this did not phase the issue. I then proceeded to uninstall the driver and re-install it, but again to no avail.


Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does this happen randomly or when you do something. I had this issue happen to me last night was playing Civilization V and it was huge map and late in the game and it started to bog my system down. So it could be the load you had on your computer.

It happens with regular computer use, I don't have any games installed on this system.

Hmm, you could get in contact with ASUS and see what they may have to say with laptops there is not as much one could advise you to do. You aren't able to try other monitors unless you have one you could try running 2 disabling your laptop monitor and using the secondary monitor and see if it persists. If there is a internal problem that is something ASUS would be able to handle more since you can't just open up and take out and replace.

have you tried reverting to much older driver?

i just reverted to 296.16 and still experiencing the same issue.

Things are a bit more tricky with laptops. Is your laptop normally warm would you say?

contacted ASUS they said my GPU is dead and im going to have to RMA it.

How is there RMA process with there Laptops? With there monitors you send one in they send one back but I take it that its not that simple.

nope i gotta send the whole laptop. I was just under the warranty expiration too. It ends at the end of the month.
