Hello. I built a new computer and the ethernet port isn't working. I talked to asus, and they said to update the BIOS. I am afraid that the flash will go bad, would updating the bios help? If not, what will? I tried updating the drivers, etc.. and the port will not sense the cord! Thanks in advance!

Motherboard: ASUS M5a78l-m usb 3.0

Solution
Quite probably yes, the BIOS and drivers have to play together, there is a possibility that the port itself is dead, but chances are good it's a BIOS issue, i.e. when the Haswell's came out MSI sent out lots of their new 45 and 65 mobos with the so called 'killer NIC' chipset, and was apparently already killed, they issued a BIOS update on those almost immediately

But will it help the ethernet problem?
