Hey guys! Glad to see you!
I'm looking for some help with an external HDD, I believe it's broken and I need it really bad! 🙁
I'll tell you the story: yesterday I was bored, so I went to my room, connected the HDD and looked for an episode of a series. I opened it and VLC thrown error. I looked in the finder and there were only half of the files. Half an hour later i checked it again and it was totally empty. I tried to format it, but it said "Error: Impossible to erase the final segment". Later checked it from my dad's laptop: same message. Then i tried to check it in my lap again, but it didn't recognize the drive...
What can I do? I've tried anything: Disk Utility, DiskWarrior, Terminal, some Windows software and nothing.
Please help me! 🙁

Extra data: HDD Model: WD Elements 1078
Operative system: Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.

Greetings from Chile!

Hey there, ChileWilly94!

I'm very sorry to hear about you issues with the WD Elements! 🙁
Unfortunately, I think that the drive is severely damaged. I'd suggest to check your warranty here: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=0O1SCo
If it's still covered, you should contact our tech support and let them know about this issue. You might be able to get a replacement.

But if the drive is out of warranty, you could try getting it out of the enclosure and plugging it using a SATA-to-USB adapter or a dock station to see if that will help you to get the HDD recognized and access your data.
Can you tell me what was the S.M.A.R.T. status from the Disk Utility, back when you were able to recognize it there?

Keep me updated!
