help!!! external hd transfer from pc to 2nd pc

have an external harddrive that i wish to download songs and pics from current pc and than transfer them cleanly to a new 2nd pc. how is this accomplished? the basics. windows explorer drag and drop? thanks, dumb blonde

Are the computers networked? i am assuming.
You could always just hook up the external hard drive to the second computer.

If you want to make the portable hd accessible by both machines at the same time just share the volume in my computer. Right click on the drive, go to sharing and security, check "share this folder on the network", hit ok. Go to second machine, go to sart>run, type in \\(fisrt computer's name)\ and hit enter. Your share should appear, you can just drag and drop to your hearts content
