hello!

My 54Mb generic wireless usb adapter w/ antenna is on its last leg(accidently crunched it between the back usb port and a wall) and now i need to consider a new wifi adapter and possibly upgrading my router?

i currently have Linksys WRT160nV3 router, and the Internet Bundle i have is just a brighthouse with i believe 15mbps internet..i speed test and it says 10mbps download to almost 1-2mbps upload but i sware ive been almost to 12mbps on those sites.

anyway for the time being i need a respectable wireless-N adapter to get me through online school, and then hopefully in the future id like to upgrade to maybe a linksys 1200ac router or better, as well as a nice ac wireless adapter to go with it...(is remembering that wireless ad is suppose to drop in the fall?) lol

what do you guys think?

price range = logical performance based upon my router/internet speed, then price.

Solution
If you get the N53 you can run 2.4 or 5GHz. So it won't really matter. You'll see alternate networks, if its dual band, when you use Connect to a Network.
I gather its a 2.4GHz only router - http://www.cnet.com/products/linksys-wrt160n/

All you need is an Asus N15 wifi adapter - 2.4GHz.

But if you are going to later get a dual band router then get a dual band wifi card eg Asus N53.

Both bands will run 15mbps easily.

Hi,

My cheap USB wi-fi adapter got 7MBps (which is 56Mbps). That's from 2nd floor to basement.

Basically ANY compatible adapter is likely more than good enough for your current usage.

NETFLIX for example can do with under 1MBps (one Mega-Byte per second).

Other:
a) Your ISP limits your internet bandwidth.
b) Your wi-fi adapter and receivers limit local bandwidth however your ISP seems low enough it's a non-issue
c) LATENCY is probably your only "issue" and that's if you intend to use wi-fi to stream games.

Frankly, if you want to stream to your HDTV I'd do it THIS way:
1) Buy the Steam Link when it comes out ($50USD), and
2) Use Ethernet not wi-fi (PC to router, and router to Steam Link)

The Steam Link is the first device that will do a proper job of using your PC remotely for gaming on an HDTV.

that asus adap looks sick, im trying to find through that link I provided if I have 2.4/5ghz or just 2.4

i think im going to get that adapter, ty!

also, in the future what is an entry AC router that is reccomended by you guys? i was thinking keeping it in family and getting this http://www.linksys.com/us/p/P-EA6350/

probably would have to change my wireless adapter then as well if i do that?

is this the card ur talking about? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833320113&cm_re=dual_band_wifi_card_asus_n53-_-33-320-113-_-Product

and is this the wireless adapter? http://www.amazon.com/Asus-Wireless-N-Graphical-Interface-USB-N53/dp/B005SAKW9G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434675144&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+n53+wireless+adapter&refinements=p_n_condition-type%3A6461716011

i see they have dual band ac/n adapter as well but i dont have ac/n dual band router yet so this will do i assume?
