TL;DR AT BOTTOM OF PAGE

My old PC motherboard and processor died on me. The mother board was an:
MSI FM2-A55M-E33 (crap)
And the processor was an:
AMD A4-6300 (crap)

The guy who I took it too tells me these are very low quality parts that even if he fixed, it would just continue to give me problems so the best thing to do would be to just get a new motherboard and CPU.

Great.

Except I know nothing about good budget motherboard and CPU combinations. I don't know anything about those two things at all actually. All I know are hard drives and RAM which I have already.

I've done a bit of research and as far as I know, for a music PC I want to find an ASUS or GIGABYTE motherboard with an Intel chipset (i5 or better). I know that if I go with AMD I would need a Ryzen or better but I'm not sure what exact parts I need.

My budget is between $150-250 (I assume that's a very small budget but I have all the other components).

I'm not sure if I would need new fans or what I would need at all.

I use a ton of plugins and not much else.

I have an HDMI monitor, 2 sticks of DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDD, and a PC CASE. I only need the motherboard, CPU and a fan I guess?

I'm not sure if the PSU I already have would be compatible with any new parts or if PSU's are universal?

I'm new sorry.

TL;DR
-Need new motherboard and CPU after old parts died
-Budget is $150-250
-Not sure if I need new fans or if CPU comes with fans.
-Not sure if old PSU is universal or would have to buy new
-I already have: DDR3 RAM, 1tb HDD, HDMI monitor, and PC case.
-Have never put a motherboard or CPU together but am willing to learn
