Hi,
I'm helping my friend built his own first PC and I need help with budgeting the rest of the parts he'll need, he mainly wants to use the PC for gaming and modeling things on SketchUp and possibly Adobe Illustrator
His budget is $300-$400 CND but might be willing to go over
This is what currently I already have:
CPU:
Motherboard: Asus P5Q Turbo http://
Memory: Kingston KVR800D2N5 (2x1GB) & Kingston KVR667D2N5 (2x1GB)
Storage:
GPU:
Case:
PSU: Cooler Master Extreme Power Plus 500w http://
OS:
Monitor:
Any and all help will be appreciated, Thanks.

Start over, bad power supply, odd RAM amounts, very old motherboard, it's looking like a 10 year old system, even for a budget one.

What "gaming" exactly are we talking about? For this budget you will have a basic use system unless you buy used parts or just find a used computer build locally on craigslist or something. Just a Windows license is $100, never mind the rest of the parts including monitor/mouse/keyboard.

On the other hand, buying 10 year old parts is a waste of money even if it fits the budget.

For anything "gaming" you will be at $500 for something worth building, but that is without any peripherals or an OS.

Here is about the minimum you'd want for gaming (CPU is a compromize for price) at about $500 including the operating system but does include a 240 GB solid state drive. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/vRv74C
