Hello, I have saved up 2,500.00 to buy my first top end gaming computer and want to reach ultra graphics 1080p and 144 FPS on most if not all decently optimized games..

I was thinking 2 970 sli, i7 4790k 4.0 to 4.4 turbo, SSD, and 8gb ram.. What do you think?

* help would be appreciated.

** realistically i would like to see 120+ fps at all times if possible.

For just gaming, this build is WAY overpowered, but fits your budget.

Solution

So you're buying a 144Hz 1080p Monitor? Nice choice. If you're getting that CPU it'd be a shame if you wouldn't get 16GB of RAM, you know, for that term "future-proofing" that everyone likes to use. If you're mainly gaming the I7 would be a "waste" (it's never a waste as it adds some performance in everyday tasks you actually do, many times not that noticeably) of money, unless rendering, streaming and other stuff like that come into play.

I swear I guessed someone would be able to fit 2 980s in there, so I didn't even bother. Nice build ^, if you're spending that money, you better spend it well!
