Hello Tom's Hardware friends,

I am new to PC building, but finally investing in a desktop after years on laptop. While I've consulted all of Tom's Hardware's guides for building a gaming PC, I could use a 2nd opinion in case of any glaring errors.

Approximate Purchase Date: Today/This weekend (Sept. 1)

Budget Range: $2000

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming (Starfield, Fallout 76, etc.) and recording

Are you buying a monitor: No

Do you need to buy OS: Maybe? I was going to make a Windows 10 boot USB

Overclocking: Maybe (again 1st time, not planning to start with this.

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe - I've not considered this in the selection.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: I picked my case because it has a nice window panel and orange highlights, which I really like. I do like the customizable LCD for the NZXT cooler as well, but if it's overkill, I'd love to know.

Any comments or advice would be appreciated and thank you!

i would always recommend multiple storage options:

1x smaller drive(>/= 256GB) for OS & applications; NVMe

1x larger drive(>/=) 2TB for game installations; SATA SSD

1x larger drive(>/=) 2TB for backup & storage; external if possible
Thank you. I do have external 2TB drives available for backup as I use them in video recording.

I will look into a 2nd storage for internal, but I believe I can add that later if it ends up being needed?

I recently picked up and am enjoying the same ASUS TUF 4070 OC 12GB for my first build, though I haven’t pushed it much yet. The only time I see the fans actually spin at all is when I run PUBG.

Tiny bit of coil whine when pushed, but if it’s not next to your head with the case open you shouldn’t be able to hear it.

Good choice, and good luck with your build!
