Help fps drops

Help fps drops
when i start playing rocket league it runs at a smooth 60 fps. Then around 30 minutes of gameplay the fps drops to around 40 and audio stutters. I monitered the gpu and cpu temperatures and both are running normal. also after exiting the game after the drops in fps the processors speed remains high and wont drop until i reboot the pc.
My hardware is:
asus maximus viii hero motherboard
i7-6700k
Corsair vengance ddr4 2666mhz ram
msi gtx 970 gpu
any help is appreciated.

Any overclocking going on?

yes i used ai suite 3 but limited the speed to 4.4 ghz

What is your OS and is the overclocking done in windows or the bios?

my os is windows 10 and my overclocking is done on windows with the ai suite 3 program

You need to do some research on high precision event timer(HPET). In windows 7, if you use in OS overclocking tools, there can be a conflict with the timing in your computer. I don't know about win 10.
