Hey, I built my new rig today. These are the important specs:

R7 1800X
16GB (8GBx2) Trident Z RGB 3000MHz
GTX 1080 Jetstream
Gigabyte Aorus AX-370 Gaming K5 Motherboard
Windows 10 Pro

I went into the BIOS and enabled my RAM's XMP profile (3000MHz, 1.35V, 16-18-18-38), saved and exited but then the board wouldn't post. I tried pushing the CPU at 1.4V to 4GHz along with the XMP profile, that also didn't help. In other words, does anyone know how I can get my RAM running at advertised speeds please? I'm not too bummed out about the CPU OC, that seems to get to 4GHz on it's own when it needs to.

Oh and btw, I'm on the latest BIOS version. Would a chipset update help? I downloaded it but have no clue on how to install it.

Try adding a bit more SoC voltage, this seems to help a lot, not higher than 1.2v in total, mine is at 1.100v to keep my ram stable at 3200mhz on an MSI B350m board, same ram as you by the way, just the 3200mhz version, oh and when you load XMP profile 1, dont touch any other ram settings at all, these boards dont seem to like ram messed with.

Also, is the bios up to date ?

Yeah, BIOS is up to date. What I don't like is the fact that Gigabyte are releasing plenty of BIOS updates for the Gaming 5, but not the Gaming K5. I don't even know what the difference between the two is besides a white IO cover instead of a black one.

I turned it down from 3000MHz to 2666MHz and that works but I'll try what you suggested and see what happens.
