Help getting past bios on IBM PC 300PL

I have a IBM PC 300PL. When I turn it on it says something to the effect of keyboard locked, keyboard unlocked. Then it proceeds to go to the bios and lists all the problems it has and has an option to continue to windows. But it wont register the keyboard so how am I supposed to continue? I've tried different keyboards, different places to plug in, different adapters, none works. The mouse works but the keyboard doesn't. Help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

If you have access to the internals of the machine, perhaps try and remove the CMOS battery and replace ti with a fresh cell. Then try with using the existing hardware and see if the system boots up.

I replaced the battery but now it is wobbly and won’t sit in right so can I hold it down with the plastic end of the screw driver while it’s booting to get past it?

Do you have a keyboard with a PS/2 plug on it? This is a PC that is over 20 years old and may not work with a USB keyboard in BIOS.

Yes it is a ps/2 keyboard. I’ve tried many other keyboards as well but this keyboard is the one that we used with it back then.

I got a new battery but there’s this clip on top of the holder and I’m afraid if I lift up on it I’ll break it. It’s also in the corner in a really awkward place so I don’t know what to do. I don’t really care if the keyboard works or not, I just need to get into Windows.
