ok ~I'v got "Arcsoft Showbiz", windows movie maker, that came
installed with the pc, plus Sonic Foundry Vegas4+ dvd architect.. now
it's time to get started!
I could use a few pointers and any advise to get underway.... and an
understanding of the process of transferring a home movie from my
digital camera - "Sony Digital handycam "trv740e", and getting a god
quality dvd at the other end!
I'v transferred a small portion to Arcsoft and also to Vegas, as a
test.. captures the video and sound ok - but Hmmmm editing is going
to be a steep learning curve I think! "avi" I think it's be a lot
easier in storybook format with frames that could eb altered etc etc~
but right now I'm wondering about quality! the resulting avi from the
minute or so capture looks terible! really looking like it came from a
cheap camera, blurry pieces, I'v viewed the video via the tv, and
yaaah! it looks good.. I '[d hate to go burn anything to dvd if the
result is going to be the same as I'm seeing here from the AVI --- or
does the software re-render and clean all that up when sending to cd?
I really don't have a clear understanding of the process - the
resulting avi for example - I play that back.. and get a particular
"window" size on screen - when it goes out to dvd and from there to
the tv - am I going to get a full screen view or is it going to be
as-I-see-it on the pc?

Editing an avi? how do I go about cleaning up portin where - for
example I'v moved and been a bit unsteady! might want to cut those out
and perhaps replace with a still shot... then continue with the
movie...
sorry.. I'm asking way to many questions.... time might be the best
thing to deal with it, and not try running before I can at least crawl
!! :)
but.. any and all pointers to anything ~ much appreciated--
particularly liek to have the quality question answered though - IS
what I see in the AVI.. ging to be what I see in the end product dvd -
or does that get cleaned up somehow?
all the best to ya'all.

A lot of questions:) A very good place to start would be to read the manual
that came with Vegas, it's very clear and succinct. Then if you have more
precise question, the good folks here would be more than happy to try to
answer them.
