HELP! GTA 5 PC starts lagging after a short time.

Hello everyone!

I started to play GTA 5 and I am experiencing really bad lag. I turn the settings a lot, and I also tried also did a clean install for Geforce Experience. This did help, but something occured after that. Before anyone asks, my specs:
Asus 2GB Geforce GTX 660 Ti
i5 4460 (3.2GHz)
Gigabyte H97 D3H
8 GB PATRIOT VIPER Ram

The severe lagging used to be caused by when I was driving at really high speeds, for some reason, it is now cause after playing for a very short time. The FPS drop is pretty bad, and I would like to hear suggestions on how I can improve it.

The "getting low FPS when driving fast" problem is a normal thing with GTA. Are all of your drivers up to date? BIOs, CPU etc? Any abnormal issues with GPU / CPU heat?

Everything looks to be just fine on my end. However I will be picking up a GTX 970 soon and will be upgrading more RAM. Hopefully that'll make GTA 5 run pretty smooth.
