Help! Homebuild won't turn on!

Hey guys, i just put togeather a computer with these components:

When i turn on the computer all fans (including the GPU) except for the CPU's fan turn on. My monitor's light simply blinks, no beeps, no whirring, nothing. Any ideas?

check that the processor is seated right

Do u have and AM2+ cooler or just AM2?
that might be the problem

The Xigmatek cooler works with am2+ according to websites and stuff; i'll check out the cpu, maybe i improperly placed it... doubt it though.

Soundls like you missed the CPU 2x2 or 4x4 power pin from cpu to motherboard.

From the sticky i did learn that i did not connect the 2X4, but now have; unfortunately it still does not work.

Also from the Mobo's book, it says that "The power connectors are compatible with power supplies with 2x2 12V and 2X10 power Connectors. When using a power supply providing a 2X4 12V and a 2X12 power connector, REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE COVERS FROM THE 12V POWER CONNECTOR AND THE MAIN POWER CONNECTOR ON THE MOTHERBOARD. do not insert the power supply cables into pins under the protective covers when using a power supply providing a 2x2 12V and a 2X10 power connector.


I have no idea what a protective cover is and whether or not my mobo has them on or not. My PSU is 2X4 12V and 2X12.

Any ideas?

Reseat the power on the mobo your cpu fan should pull right off the mobo correct??If your not getting power on that it may be the cables or the mobo.

Some motherboards do. Most cases do. Antec cases, for example, do not. If you have a system that is not booting, you desperately need one of these things.

Reseting CMOS seems to have completely fixed all of my problems... though for some reason my cpu fan still isnt working! =P any suggestions? Thanks again guys!

CPU fan not working? check two things: is it plugged into the CORRECT mobo socket? And, it is plugged in the right way? Usually there is a 3-pin connector on the fan cord and a matching set of pins on mobo. Usually also you cannot plug it in with the connector reversed, but look closely anyway. If the mobo socket or fan connector is 4-pin and they don't match, look up the mobo and fan makers' websites to see how to handle that.

If these still don't help, you could try examining the BIOS Setup screesn to be sure the CPU Fan control system has the fan Enabled. You may have to hurry, though. Once you turn on the system with no CPU fan running, it won;'t take long for the CPU heat to raise the heatsink temp enough to cause the CPU protection system to shut you down. Then you will need to wait a while for it to cool off. Alternatively, see if you can rig a temporary cooler - maybe a pistol-grip hair dryer set on No Heat and blowing over the CPU heatsink.
