Hello everyone!
I have a relative with me for a few weeks, and an extra pci-e video card (XFX Radeon r7 260x) kicking around, and was hoping to throw it into this board: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00910113 (ECS 945GCT-HM).
I took the board and cpu out of a compaq presario desktop a while back. I have it breadboarded atm with a 160gb seagate barracuda, 2gb of crucial ddr2 and a 600w cooler master power supply.
Problem is no matter what I do, I can only get this motherboard to output video through its on-board VGA connector. I've successfully installed both windows vista home premium 64bit and windows 7 professional 64 bit and have stress tested the cpu (intel celeron d420) and powersupply i'm using (600w with 6/8-pin pci-e power). This customer compaq/HP bios seems to simply ignore the bios setting that allows me to change it from onboard, pci, or pci-e. I've tried all 3 settings and get the same result, fans on pci-e graphics card spin, but no signal coming from the card. I've flashed the bios to the only and latest updated bios from compaq/HP and still no change.
Is there a generic bios image I could find to overwrite the customer hp/compaq bios that's on here now? The motherboard manufacturer doesn't have a downloadable bios for this model because it seems it was custom made for hp/compaq. There are similar 945-GCT models on ECS's website but none ending in "HM".
Any suggestions? Is it possible that the bios is preventing anything but the on board video being used? I've checked the basics like power connectors, new cmos battery, etc...
Thanks in advance everyone!
