hello i was wondering if it was possible to overclock a HP all in one. (either CPU or RAM)..ive heard both that it works and dosent..also im a little rusty with my computer skills and was wondering why i have 4 gigs or ram yet only 2 are available for use..i didn't think the OS took that much ram away ..thanks for you guys help =]

Solution
HP disables any overclocking ability for CPU and RAM. If you can find a hacked bios, you may get it to work, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Your computer should have at least 3.5GB RAM available for use if you have 4GB installed. Could you provide more information about your RAM? What does the performance tab of the task manager indicate?

system info says i have 4 gigs of ram (2.61gigs usable) right now im only using google chrome and over 80% of my ram is being used ..i run a 32 bit OS windows 7...i was trying to post some pictures but it wont allow me too

Being all-in-one, it is most probably with built-in video adapter, which has allocated some of the memory for its own use.
Being all-in-one, it has poor cooling, so even if you find BIOS allowing for overclock, you will more likely damage it (both PC and display parts of it)

Dedicating more than 1GB of RAM to video is a little unusual. You should check your bios to see if you can adjust the amount of RAM dedicated to your GPU. If possible, set this to the minimum value. This will allow your system to use the RAM most effectively where it needs it.

this is the most basic bios ive ever seen ...the only thing it will let me do is disable usb ports and set the boot order..other then that nothing oh and i get to see my CPU fan speed ha!

also would down grading to xp help this at all ?

Overclocking (if I remember, this is what you are trying to do) does not care what OS you are running - XP, Seven or Linux.

All-in-one PCs are made for people who want an appliance for their computing - turn it on, do the job (surfing, emailing, facebooking, quickbooking, some youtubing), turn it off, make it look pretty. They were not designed for war-crafting, racing, or overclocking. Look at all-in-one as you would look at your microwave oven, or refrigerator - an appliance.

If you want a computer you can tweak, upgrade, overclock - get a proper desktop PC, with proper motherboard. Yes, you cannot use anything from that all-in-one.

yes ive come to realize this lol...was was asking about the downgrade regarding all the memories my video is taking..i have 4 gigs of ram but only able to use 2 gigs
