Greetings:)

I am in need of some assistance in choosing between two different prebuilt PCs.

The PC is for a friend of mine who wants it for playing FPS/Racing games and he has a price range of roughly 2,400 USD. I have landed on two different ones which both seem to be solid. I do have some concerns about the graphic card and power supply. Some say the graphics card can overheat because of some plastic component, while others say it is not an issue at all. The power supply seems a bit low, but when I use the PCPartPicker it does not seem to use nearly as much as the power supply. The other power supply I was looking at was: ASUS TUF GAMING 750B, 750W PSU.

Here are the two PCs:

  • Phanteks Eclipse G360A Mid Tower
  • MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X OC
  • AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU Tray
  • Cooler Master ML240L V2 RGB CPU Cooler
  • Kingston FURY Beast RGB DDR5 6000MHz 32GB
  • Kingston FURY Renegade PCIe M.2 NVME SSD 2TB
  • WD BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD 1TB
  • ASUS TUF Gaming B650-PLUS WIFI
  • Cooler Master MWE Gold 650 V2 PSU
  • Windows 11 Home
---------------------------------------------------------------------

  • Phanteks Eclipse G360A Mid Tower
  • MSI GeForce RTX 4070 VENTUS 2X OC
  • Intel Core i5-13600K CPU
  • Pure Rock 2 Black CPU Cooler
  • Kingston FURY Beast DDR5 6000MHz 32GB
  • Kingston FURY Renegade PCIe M.2 NVME SSD 2TB
  • WD BLACK SN770 NVMe SSD 1TB
  • MSI MAG B760 Tomahawk WiFi
  • Cooler Master MWE Gold 650 V2 PSU
  • Windows 11 Home

Both at roughly the same price, 2,400USD.

Thank you for helping out!:)

AMD system certainly, that CPU is much faster. You don't really need a liquid cooler though and I would opt for a large air cooler for longevity.

Not sure what plastic component they could be referring to. The PSU is adequate for the GPU you have selected. Less so paired with the more power hungry Intel CPU.

4070 is only a 200W card, one of the more efficient ones out there and they tend to put oversize coolers on them, generally the same one as the 4070Ti. That said, announcement this week is possible for the 4070 Super, which may be the same price and offer more performance.

If you are concerned, seek out a 750W or 850W ATX3.0 unit. RM750e is usually the cheapest available. Depending on where these lists are coming from.

Yo, Frindis, my man! You good?! :)

The builds look similar but I'd opt for the AMD build over Intel, power efficient. Do you have headroom in your budget with either of the two builds? I would splurge a little on the PSU and get something a little beefier.

Perhaps shoot us a PCPartPicker link for us to tweak?

Thank you. Pure Rock 2 Black CPU Cooler seems to be one of the better ones on my list from the manufacturer. The other one not being a liquid cooler is the Pure Rock 2 FX PCU.

Some have mentioned the backplate being in plastic and that being bad.

Heyo:) Chilling in Runescape fishing and jumping on PC Gamer from time to time:) I hope you are well too😉

I'll opt for a higher one, though the ASUS TUF Gaming 750B seems to be the only one on the list that people have mentioned being ok. Rest is different Corsairs and all have gotten bad reviews from making sounds, like: Corsair RMe Series RM750e/850e PSU & Cooler Master MWE Gold 850. Maybe they are just unlucky with the one they had, I dunno.

Ahh, certainly:)

AMD Ryzen 7 one: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tMRJTY (changed from a liquid cooler into air since it was recommended )

Thank you for the assistance guys:) I'll follow your tips and go for the first PC option while changing to an air cooler and getting a better power supply. Oh, and I'll wait until end of January to check out is the RTX 4070 super will be any good, so thanks for that tips also😉
