More information needed:

What monitor (screen) are you using?
What brand/model is your computer?
Are you using built in graphics from motherboard or are you using discrete (separate) graphics card?
Name/model of graphics card?

Oh dear I did say average 2yr old but they would show more intelligence !
The only thing is on the back it says model 242, version 242h in the information pack it says motherboard & p8p67 I'm really sorry computer man came out a few months ago to help me but I fear he's still lying down in a darkened room

No problem. The P8P67 is an Asus board and requires a discrete video card. To determine what card you have do this:

1. Click on start button
2. In the white search box type "device manager" without the quotes
3. Click on the device manager entry
4. When the device manager window opens, click on the triangle next to Display adapter
5. Make a note of what is said under that entry
6. Now click on the triangle next to Monitors
7. Make a note of what is said there.

Are you using a television as your screen, or are you using a computer monitor?
