Hi I just got my evga gtx 760 and this is my first time installing a new graphics card.
I have installed the card into my computor and I have a couple of questions.
Do I need my VGA cable in the integrated motherboard or the card itself when first powering it up?
Do I need my graphics card in when installing the drivers?
Why is my screen black even though the fan on the gpu is on?

#1 - You should use your DVI cable in the GTX760
#2 - You should have the graphics card in when installing the drivers
#2 - Your BIOS may be setup to use the integrated graphics card as primary display instead, or where you able to correctly install the extra PCIe power plugs into the VGA Card ?

i have an adapter for the vga to dvi.
when i have my gpu in and start my computor up the sound in my speakers come on but there is just a black screen what should i do?

when i put my old gpu in it works straight away even though i have no drivers for it anymore do you think it is a faulty card ?

What power supply are you using? Does it have 2 PCIe connectors? The GTX 760 requires 2 such connectors or it will sit and spin but not show video.

If it has power and you know both plugs are good then you probably have a bad card.

i bought this power supply for the graphics card because my old one wasn't good enough so this is the one i am using http://www.ebuyer.com/546620-cooler-master-g-series-g700w-80plus-bronze-psu-rs700-acaab1-uk

This PSU should be more than enough for it, please check if there is any plug missing on the card to attach, lastly try to take a picture of it and upload here, this way we can have a better view.

At this moment, it seems that your is not receiving enough power in order to boot (and I do hope that's the problem instead of a faulty card)
