Hello there, long time reader first time poster. I would've happily searched for some solutions for this but i don't even know what to search for.

I was playing Arkham Knight when suddenly the game crashed and some squares appeared then the screen went black, I couldn't bring up the task manager so I just restarted the computer instead, not a power off, just a restart. But when the computer started booting up, this started happening.

I could still interact with it and log in, but it's not using my gpu since it's in 800x600 resolution and i can't change it. Even in uefi and the initial boot step this already appears. I can still see my gpu in the device manager, but it has a warning sign on it. I don't know what to do, is my gpu dying? It's lights are still alight. Does it require some deep cleaning?

My system specs
Z-97k
I7-4790k
Gtx680 dcuiitop 2gb
10gb ddr3 ram

Try booting into safe mode and use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to uninstall the drivers.
Launch into normal and reinstall the drivers from Nvidias website.

Maybe that will help, but if it's showing on the BIOS screen...

Try using your integrated graphics just to rule out everything else like the monitor, cables, etc.

I'm downloading the new drivers as we speak, if this doesn't work. I'll try using the integrated gpu...umm, I just remove my gtx680 from my mobo ang plug the dvi cable on the motherboard dvi slot, right?

I hope it's not broken, I only had this for like 3 years, almost 4! I was hoping on holding out until the pascal gpus arrive.

I didn't overclock it, but it is factory overclocked though, i sometimes underclock it using gpu tweak...Also, gpu tweak warns that it failed to load dlls and that I should install vga drivers?

Yeah, the on-board GPU just worked, I'm glad that my mobo is fine since I just bought it not less than 6 months ago..But crap...I have to buy a new GPU? Is there some way to fix this? Or is it well and truly broken?

I was planning on buying a GTX980Ti before I decided to wait for the Pascal, I guess I'll just have to buy a GTX 980Ti, do you guys have a suggestion? Maybe a version that's easy to clean and good performance, ASUS still a good choice?

Hmm, maybe I should install a couple more fans on my case, I currently have the NZXT Phantom 410 with 2 intake fans on the bottom-front, 2 exhaust fans on top and one exhaust fan on the upper rear for the CPU radiator. Maybe I could add one 140mm for the side panel and one 120mm for the bottom, both for intake. That should help the temperature stay cool.
