Hi, my pc has been hard to start for several months now, clicking off numerous times just to get it signed in. I got hit with a virus/Trojan about 8 or 9 months back - tried everything to get my PC running right, but it hasn't since then. I reinstalled Win7 (64) but its still not the same since the hit. Someone has been getting into my pc somehow, I can tell stuff is missing and moved around. Today it was in sleep mode- when I woke it there was a curious usb window opened, the pc acted strange, and it cut off immediately. So I cut it back on, after trying about 30 times! I did a launch repair and the Root cause found was "A patch is preventing the system from starting". How can I get this patch off of my pc and how can I prevent it from coming back? Oh also, what is a cmd window with a x:\ for? It pops up now every time I bootup. Thanks.

If it took you 30 times to turn it back on, it's hardware, not software. Wiping a drive and reformatting gets rid of everything.

The "A patch is preventing the system from starting" is a windows problem due an update, that was half installed and maybe crapped out when it "cut off". Has nothing to do with a virus.

Slowing down a PC and letting someone know your their compromises them. they rather be in stealth mode so they can keep going.

I think your PC has hardware issues or other issues and doesn't have anything to do with being "hacked".

Hi getochkn, I have updated and updated and updated...seems like every time I finally get my pc to cut on, it takes me straight to that window with the choice to update where you can put it off for between 10min and 4hrs. Or it shuts down completely without even giving me that choice, and goes straight to updating. Sometimes its only a two digit number of updates, but once I got over 200 updates needed -- this thing literally updated all night long. If my updates are not taking (since I see that a lot of them have failed), what can I do to get my PC to properly update everything it needs to run properly? Thanks...:)
