I received the "critical battery error 0190" on my 2yr old $700 Lenovo Thinkpad Twist - I replaced the ac cord and the battery. The laptop still will not power on. The indicator light next to the ac port doesn't even come on. I do not want to trash a laptop I paid so much for and enjoy so much. What to do?

Solution

Are you saying that you replaced just the AC line cord or did you replace the charger/power brick?

Assuming both a good battery and a good power supply, no lights could mean a power board/circuit failure (requires motherboard replacement) or broken solder connection/s on the power connector (can be fixed by any competent tech with a soldering iron). Only way to find out is to take it to a service center.

I bought it over the phone with Lenovo. I double checked the FRU# before changing it out. Lenovo no longer has the battery or anything to speak of online for the Lenovo thinkpad twist s230u I own.
