HELP!-low profile card vs normal graphics card

are low profile graphics cards slower than a normal card of same version
for example
is a gtx 650 (low profile version) slower than a gtx 650 normal version
does the low profile version need 6 pin pcie connector support
i am thinking about getting a low profile version of galaxy gtx 650

They are not slower, it still needs the plug, but often the heatsink is not as good and it will get hotter. That will limit the boost functionality.

I believe the 750's are significantly better and use much less power as well.
